Andrea Haugerud Hovik (Norge)

Video-collagen «Four Moons, One Sun» tar utgangspunkt i et hjemmevideo-opptak fra kunstnerens egen barndom som dokumenterer solformørkelsen 11. august 1999. Klippet fra 1999 kombineres med nytt og funnet videomateriale. Verket tematiserer forholdet mellom det menneskelige hverdagslivet og universet. Videoverket akkompagneres også av Hoviks bok Can You See The Sun Now, som på samme måte som videoverket, tar opp temaer som minner, tid, familiære relasjoner, sykliske bevegelser – og det vi ikke vet. Under Platform Nord vil kunstneren stille ut verkene, men også lese utdrag fra boken.

Andrea Haugerud Hovik (23) fullførte i 2017 en bachelorgrad i kunst fra Kunst og Designhøyskolen i Bergen.

The video collage “Four Moons, One Sun” is based on a home video recording from the artist’s own childhood that documents the solar eclipse August 11, 1999. The solar eclipse is combined with new and found footage. The work searches for a connection between the everyday life and the universe. The video is also accompanied by Hovik’s book, Can You See The Sun Now. Both the book and the video addresses issues like memories, time, family relationships, cyclical movements – and the things we do not know. At Platform Nord the artist will exhibit the works, but also read excerpts from the book.

Andrea Haugerud Hovik (23) has a bachelor in Fine Arts from Bergen Academy of Art and Design.
